Rudersdal Municipality faced a demanding task: modernising its procurement process to match ambitious goals for sustainability, efficiency and digitalisation. With an annual procurement budget of roughly DKK 1.4 billion, every dime had to be spent wisely and in line with the municipality’s values.

Their existing procurement setup relied heavily on fragmented systems and manual processes, which made it difficult to maintain a clear overview or manage contracts effectively. On top of that, the municipality aimed to embed sustainability criteria directly into the procurement flow to support its climate action plan and cut CO₂ emissions from purchasing.

The system is well thought through and built with a real understanding of our needs. We expect Intellis to support the development of procurement across the municipality, so that decentralised users spend as little time as possible on purchasing, and we gain better control of our contracts.

To meet these challenges, Rudersdal Municipality chose to implement Intellis’ e-Procurement platform, Tellis®. The solution was tailored to their specific requirements and integrated with their existing systems, ensuring a smooth and cohesive rollout.

A key element in the setup was the built-in segmentation tool, which allowed the municipality to align contract management with its own model. This delivered a clear overview of all supplier agreements and ensured contracts were managed efficiently throughout their lifecycle.

Sustainability was not an afterthought, it became a core part of the process. Tellis® made it easier for the municipality to identify and prioritise suppliers that met their environmental standards, directly supporting their goal of reducing procurement-related CO₂ emissions.

Kamilla Stark Lønsmann, Head of Procurement, Rudersdal Municipality, says: “The main reason we chose Intellis was the contract management functionality and the segmentation tool, which we could adapt to our own model. The system is well thought through and fits our needs. We expect Intellis to support our procurement development, reduce time spent on purchasing for decentralised users and improve how we manage our contracts. We also expect Intellis to keep up with technological progress, so we can benefit from it in our work.”

Since implementing Tellis®, Rudersdal Municipality has seen tangible improvements in its procurement operations. Employees now spend less time on administrative tasks and have better tools to make informed decisions. The increased transparency and control haven’t just improved efficiency, they’ve strengthened the municipality’s ability to meet its climate targets.
